Chelsea is preparing for an exciting summer transfer period as the market prepares to reopen.

The Blues have witnessed 15 players leave at the start of this season, with notable names such as Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. With manager Mauricio Pochettino looking to overhaul the squad, another 4 first-team players are likely to depart.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared insights on the upcoming transfer window and its significance for most Premier League teams. Chelsea will have to carefully calculate their net spending, and FFP regulations may force them to sell players.

“We might see Chelsea players leaving this summer, especially those out on loan,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“As previously reported, the plan is to sell Armando Broja after his return from a loan spell at Fulham, and Hakim Ziyech could be considered to have played his last game for Chelsea. I also predict Romelu Lukaku and Ian Maatsen will leave Chelsea, but for others, we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”

Lukaku does not want to return to Chelsea

Since returning to the club in 2021, Lukaku hasn’t found success at Chelsea and has had loan spells at Inter Milan and Roma. At 30 years old, the Belgian striker admits he needs to be “smart” about his next steps away from Stamford Bridge.

“I don’t want to have any disputes with them in England,” Lukaku recently told Sky Sports. “I have to be smart, you know what I mean.”

Lukaku has had another impressive spell on loan, scoring 20 goals across all competitions at this point in the season. Both Roma and clubs in Saudi Arabia are interested in acquiring Lukaku.
