LeBron James and Van Dijk introduce the new Liverpool FC x LeBron collection.

One year after their initial collaboration release, Liverpool and LeBron James have teamed up once more to introduce a second collection of custom athletic and streetwear. The first Liverpool FC x LeBron collection debuted in February 2023, coinciding with Los Angeles Lakers’ star James becoming the NBA’s all-time leading points scorer. Now, just days after reaching 40,000 career points, he unveils the LBJ x LFC Chapter 2 collection.

In recent years, James has established himself as a fixture at Liverpool, serving as both a supporter and a minority shareholder in the Premier League club since 2011.

To launch the collection, James stood alongside Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk — or, as the hoops star dubbed him in a message to congratulate the Netherlands defender on taking the armband, “VVD my guy.”

Chapter 2 of the range melds football and basketball aesthetics and includes a limited edition hoop jersey, a football shirt and a fresh revamp of James’ signature Nike LeBron sneakers — all of which are rendered in a colour palette reminiscent of Liverpool’s classic teal away strip.

The two jerseys both carry the famous “YNWA” (“You’ll Never Walk Alone”) print motif across the midriff which is also woven into the fabric alongside LeBron’s own personal mantra “SFG,” which stands for “Strive For Greatness”.

The football shirt comes in black with gold and teal accents, showcasing a tonal checkerboard design composed of squares, stripes, the two aforementioned mantras, as well as the Liverpool club crest and LeBron’s “King James” logo.

The basketball edition features a mix of colors, resulting in a blue-teal vest with black and gold highlights, adorned with the same pattern, crests, and intricate details on the front.

Technically labeled as the LFC x LeBron Nike NXXT Gen Amplified trainers, these ultra-lightweight sneakers are white with a teal sole. The Liverpool “Liver bird” club crest is prominently displayed in gold on both the tongue and the heel, ensuring that the Reds are represented whenever James steps onto the court wearing them.

The broader clothing collection, showcased by Liverpool players such as Alisson Becker, Ryan Gravenberch, Taylor Hinds, and Andy Robertson, also encompasses t-shirts, a warm-up top, and a jacket.

Van Dijk, aiming to lead Liverpool to their second Premier League title in five years ahead of title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City, expressed, “Working alongside LeBron to unveil this collaboration has been fantastic. I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve achieved.”

Liverpool vice-captain Hinds, who has netted goals against both Manchester City and Manchester United in Women’s Super League matches this season, remarked, “This collaboration between LFC and LBJ is another exciting blend of basketball and football styles.”
