Former NBA star Paul Pierce contends that he was more clutch throughout his NBA career compared to Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Both Pierce and James have made notable game-winning shots during their careers, including several memorable ones in the playoffs.

According to BetMGM, James and Pierce have each made seven buzzer-beating shots in their NBA careers.

It’s challenging to solely judge a player’s clutch performance based on game-winning shots, as James orchestrated one of the most remarkable comebacks in NBA history. He led the Cavs to victory in the 2016 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors after trailing 3-1 in the series. This achievement wasn’t just a single clutch moment but a series of remarkable performances, including a legendary block in Game 7, showcasing James’s ability to excel in critical moments.

Both Pierce and James have secured NBA championships during their careers. Pierce notably earned the NBA Finals MVP title in the 2008 NBA Finals triumph against the Lakers. Meanwhile, James, a four-time NBA Finals MVP recipient, has clinched the award in all of his Finals triumphs.

While Pierce, a Hall of Famer, is certainly entitled to his viewpoint, it’s worth noting that James boasted a playoff record of 17-13 against Pierce during the latter’s tenure in the NBA.

Considering James’ extensive career achievements, he may ultimately have the edge over Pierce in the “clutch” category.
